VATE State Conference - call for presenters

27–28 November 2014  Deakin University, Burwood

How ya goin'? Believe it or not, Australia is the only country in the world in which this question does not constitute an enquiry about transport choices. Australians know that the question asks about our current health, our state of mind, our general condition. We answer, 'Fine', or less grammatically, 'Good', and move on. In 2014, though, VATE is probing beneath the clichés. How are we travelling? Moving, cruising, strolling, struggling, sinking? That's what we're investigating.

In 2014, looking forward to 2015 and the ongoing changes facing us as English teachers, facing our students, and facing the nation itself, it's time to take stock, to find 'where we are at', who we are, where we've been and where we're going; in fact, to examine how we are travelling. Perhaps it's time to take a 'selfie'.
