The Victorian Association for the Teaching of English is a professional body established to promote the interests of English education and to allow English educators in Victoria to exchange ideas.

VATE brings together teachers in government, Catholic and independent schools, as well as tertiary educators and pre-service teachers.

VATE Community of Practice: Teaching Reading

VATE has secured funding from the DET to support a year-long professional learning program which aims to deepen English teachers’ understandings of reading processes through action research in the classroom. VATE is inviting Expressions of Interest from VATE members for two Critical Friends to work with two of the CoP schools and to join three other Critical Friends.
