SPECIAL PROJECTS

A Community of Practice: Teaching Reading

Applications from interested schools are now invited for the 2016 A Community of Practice: Teaching Reading project. Now in its second year, the CoP is a year-long professional learning program which aims to deepen English teachers’ understandings of reading processes through action research in the classroom. Funding is available to support professional learning, a project officer and critical friends, and to cover some school costs. Teachers will conduct informal research in the context of their own classrooms; engage in face-to-face professional learning experiences during 2016 and share their new learning with others.

Please click here to download further information about the CoP and an application form. Please email applications, and supporting documents, to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by Wednesday 10 February 2016.

The Best of Both Worlds

The Best of Both Worlds is a joint project between VATE and ALEA (Australian Literacy Educators' Association), specifically designed to promote positive literacy and English outcomes for students transitioning from primary to secondary school. With the support of the project officer, network teachers are encouraged to share best practice, visit schools within the network and contribute to the sharing of effective practices across schools.

Applications from schools interested in participating in The Best of Both Worlds project in 2016 are now invited. Please click here to download more details and an application form. Please email applications, and supporting documents, to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by Wednesday 10 February 2016.
