Covert prestige p308
The linguistic features that are valued by a sub-group within a community, usually associated with non-standard language, e.g., surfers, bikers.
Overt Prestige p319
The linguistic features that are recognised by the culturally dominant group, usually associated with the standard language, e.g., Standard English.
