Description: |
Literacy Learning is a new mini-method for 2010. This is an intensive teacher education program, jointly run by VATE and the University of Melbourne, that supports English/Literacy teachers to meet the literacy needs of diverse groups of students. The program (which provides 24 hours of face-to-face teaching, as well as an online component) will deal with those aspects of literacy that underpin the emerging Australian Curriculum for English, relating as this does to teachers’ and students’ knowledge of language.
Programme (registration starts 30 min. before start time)
Tuesday 16 March, 5.00pm – 7.00pm. Introduction and overview
Tuesday 20 April, 12.30pm – 4.30pm. Reading.
Tuesday 11 May, 12.30pm – 4.30pm. Writing.
May – June (6 hours). Online learning activities; begin case studies
Tuesday 20 July, 5.00pm – 7.00pm. Monitoring and assessment of reading
Tuesday 3 August, 5.00pm – 7.00pm. Monitoring and assessment of writing
Tuesday 17 August, 12.30pm – 4.30pm. Case Study presentations
