2024 VATE Leadership Conference - in-person

We asked: ‘What are the biggest concerns facing you as an aspiring, new, or senior English leader?’ – and you answered! The 2024 VATE Leadership Conference has been built around the concerns facing you and your English Department this year. From how to develop policies to address the use of AI; how to use data to inform meaningful student learning; mentoring out of field and early career teachers; and the best strategies for managing an English Department that is varied in their experience levels, opinions, and personalities – the Leadership Conference hopes to soothe your concerns and inspire you in your leadership.

Excitingly, the Leadership Conference will feature two keynote presentations. The breakfast keynote will be delivered by Associate Professor Amanda McGraw who will explore the important research she is involved in with a team of academics from Federation, Monash and Deakin Universitities into the tensions and opportunities for English leaders as they nurture and maintain their own identity and integrity, alongside that of their colleagues. The closing keynote will be delivered by Dr Kathryn Richardson from ACER who will explore data storytelling and using data to craft a narrative about individual students’ learning.

All registrations must be made via credit card or a valid school approved purchase order number. Registrations made without an approved school order number may be subject to cancellation.

 

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be emailed to events@vate.org.au. Cancellations received by 12pm five working days prior to the event date will be charged a 15% cancellation fee. Cancellations received after this will receive NO REFUND. Registrations can, however, be transferred to another staff member. Please email events@vate.org.au the details. If you do not attend and have not notified VATE according to the above policy, you will receive no refund.  Please note: If this event is cancelled due to COVID government or venue restrictions, you will receive a full refund.

Catering and special diets (in-person events only)

Coeliac, vegan and other special diets (medical related) can be requested. Please email your special diet request to events@vate.org.au at least seven working days prior to the event. Please note: Approximately 50% of the catering will be vegetarian. You do not need to request this.
