As part of the (human) Being anthology project, VATE is offering interactive student writing workshops (online via Zoom) led by contributing authors. These sessions invite students to explore big questions about identity, belonging and what it means to be human, while also developing their own creative voices. The workshops are designed to build confidence, encourage authentic storytelling and give students a glimpse into the real processes writers use when shaping new work.
In each workshop, students will hear a short reading from an author, learn about a craft decision behind the writing, and take part in a guided 'seed writing' activity designed to spark new ideas. There is also time for light mentoring, where students can refine a sentence or moment from their draft and receive supportive feedback. The session closes by connecting students’ writing to the anthology and encouraging them to consider submitting their work.
