A Story in Miniature
VATE is excited to launch our 2022 writing competition A Story in Miniature. Students in Years 7 to 12 and their teachers are invited to submit a story between 300 and 500 words in length inspired by the writing competition theme.
"Short stories do no say this happened and this happened and this happened. They are a microcosm and a magnification rather than a linear progression." - Isobelle Carmody
VATE Ideas Lab: Teaching English in the Middle Years Conference
The middle years provides the perfect environment for experimentation and innovation. Our students are curious and ready to be engaged with meaningful, purposeful and equitable learning opportunities.
With a focus on inclusivity, diversity and visibility, join with your colleagues to hear from a range of educators who will share their ideas and insights into teaching English in the middle years, highlighting ways that they capitalise on the enthusiasm and flexibility of students in Years 7 to 10.

VATE’s popular Beyond TEEL online learning modules are again available for purchase with two additional modules. The aim of these modules is to help teachers in Years 7 – 12 develop student readers and writers.
