In 2023, VATE’s Mini-Method program will support teachers with the undertaking of the new Study Designs for English, English as an Additional Language and Literature to be implemented in classrooms from Term One, 2023 and English Language to be implemented in Term One, 2024. The Mini-Method is designed to support teachers’ understanding of the implications of the new Study Designs, provide an opportunity to upskill in content-specific knowledge, as well as assist with the planning and preparation involved with the VCE Englishes courses. The Mini-Method programs are suitable for those teaching VCE Englishes for the first time, and more experienced teachers who are looking to enhance their understanding of the new Study Designs. Registration also includes access to the recordings of the workshops, and any notes or resources that presenters make available.
Registration options:
To support members’ participation in the Mini-Method program, there are two options for registration.
Option 1: a combination of in-person sessions at AEU Abbotsford and online sessions (via Zoom). The AEU Building is located at 126 Trenerry Crescent, Abbotsford. Please note that due to room capacities at the AEU, the number of Option 1 registrations will be capped.
OR
Option 2: all sessions delivered online (via a combination of Zoom and livestream)
VATE prioritises the health and safety of our staff, members and the wider education community. It is a requirement of all in-person events that VATE staff and event delegates follow directions issued by Victoria’s Chief Health Officer, COVID government requirements and recommendations, and venue safe practices. VATE will endeavour to provide delegates with current COVID information, however, this is subject to change at any time without notice. Cancellations must be emailed to events@vate.org.au. Cancellations received by 12pm five working days prior to the event date will be charged a 15% cancellation fee. Cancellations received after this will receive NO REFUND. Registrations can, however, be transferred to another staff member. Please email events@vate.org.au the details. If you do not attend and have not notified VATE according to the above policy, you will receive no refund. Please note: If this event is cancelled due to COVID government or venue restrictions, you will receive a full refund.
Coeliac, vegan and other special diets (medical related) can be requested. Please email your special diet request to events@vate.org.au at least seven working days prior to the event. Please note: Approximately 50% of the catering will be vegetarian. You do not need to request this.
