VCE Literature Network: Close passage analysis

Description

Designed with both new and experienced Literature teachers in mind, this series celebrates close passage analysis and its specialist skills as the defining feature of the VCE Literature Study Design. At its heart, close passage analysis is what Literature does, highlighting a disciplined and rich reciprocal reading experience between a reader and a text.

Across three focused sessions, participants will consolidate their knowledge of the close analysis process – including criteria for selecting passages appropriate for analysis when designing their own SACs – through to the exploring effective approaches to teaching close analysis skills in a way that builds student confidence and capability. Participants will then explore approaches to teaching close analysis skills before working together to assess a piece of analysis.

These workshops will be delivered with Madeleine Coulombe and Briony Schroor via Zoom from 4 – 5pm.

Monday 1 June   What is close passage analysis?
Tuesday 16 June   Pedagogical approaches to close passage analysis
Thursday 16 July   Assessing the qualities of effective close passage analysis
